Minimum Order and Minimum Price

Laundromats with wash-dry-fold drop-off laundry services typically require a minimum amount for orders they accept. This minimum can be enforced in two different ways:

1. Minimum Order (Grand Total)

  • This method requires the total of all items in an order to meet a minimum amount.
  • It applies regardless of whether items are washed together or separately.

2. Minimum Price (Per Load)

  • This method requires each load of laundry that is washed separately to meet a minimum charge.
  • The grand total of the order is not included in this calculation—each item is assessed individually.

Why Enforcing a Minimum is Important

A point-of-sale system that automatically enforces a minimum order or minimum price prevents employees from accidentally undercharging for services. Wash-Dry-Fold POS supports both methods to help laundromats maintain profitability.

Demonstration: Minimum Order (Grand Total)

  1. Select a customer and add a wash-dry-fold item (e.g., $1.50 per pound).
  2. If the order total is less than the set minimum (e.g., $15), an additional screen will appear prompting you to choose a minimum order amount.
  3. Once selected, the system automatically adjusts the total to meet the minimum requirement.
  4. A "Minimum Order" line item is added to make up the price difference.

Example

  • Customer drops off 3.5 lbs of laundry at $1.50 per lb ($5.25 total).
  • System prompts to apply the $15 minimum.
  • A "Minimum Order" line item is added to adjust the total.
  • If retail items (e.g., a lint roller for $3) are included, the minimum only applies to laundry services, while the retail item is added separately.

Demonstration: Minimum Price (Per Load)

  1. Select a wash-dry-fold item with a minimum price set per load (e.g., $15).
  2. Enter the weight using a scale.
  3. If the calculated price is less than the minimum, the system automatically adjusts the total to the minimum amount per load.
  4. Each load of laundry is individually assessed, meaning multiple loads each have their own minimum price.

Example

  • 3.5 lbs of laundry at $1.50 per lb normally totals $5.25.
  • The system adjusts this to $15, enforcing a bag minimum per load.
  • Each separate load gets its own $15 minimum.
