Applying Discounts in Wash-Dry-Fold POS

This guide covers the various ways to apply discounts to a customer's order. We'll start with the most basic methods and progress to more advanced options.

1. Applying a Percentage Discount

  1. Begin a transaction and search for the customer.
  2. Add the laundry weight or items to the order.
  3. Click the "Apply Percent Discount" button.
  4. Enter the discount percentage (e.g., 10% off).
  5. The system will automatically calculate and apply the discount.

2. Adjusting the Price per Pound

  1. Add the laundry weight to the order.
  2. Select the item and adjust the price per pound manually.
    • Example: Instead of $1.50 per pound, enter $1.00 per pound.
  3. The system will update the total based on the new rate.

3. Using Coupon Buttons for Discounts

Coupon buttons can be set up to provide flat dollar amounts or percentage-based discounts. This is useful if:

  • You want to run promotions or discounts on specific services.
  • You are using the "Attendant (Limited Access)" role where price changes and manual discounts are restricted.

Creating a Flat Amount Discount Coupon

  1. Click the Menu button and go to Inventory.
  2. Click New Coupon and name it (e.g., "$10 Off Coupon").
  3. Assign it to a Department (e.g., Laundry).
  4. Set the Coupon Type to Flat Amount and enter -10 (negative values represent discounts).
  5. Select which items the coupon applies to.
  6. Click Save.

Creating a Percentage Discount Coupon

  1. Click New Coupon and name it (e.g., "10% Off Coupon").
  2. Assign it to a Department.
  3. Set the Coupon Type to Percentage and enter -10.
  4. Select the items the coupon should apply to.
  5. Click Save.

Note:

  • If a positive percentage is entered, it acts as a fee/surcharge instead of a discount.
  • Item selection prevents unintended discounts on retail items while applying them only to laundry services.

Applying Coupons at Checkout

  1. Start a new sale and add items to the order.
  2. Apply the discount by selecting the appropriate coupon button:
    • "$10 Off" will deduct $10 from the total.
    • "10% Off" will apply a 10% discount to the total.

4. Using Price Levels for Automatic Discounts

Price Levels allow special pricing for certain customers, such as:

  • Commercial Accounts
  • Military Discounts
  • Student Discounts

Setting Up a Price Level

  1. Go to Inventory and select Price Levels.
  2. Click New Price Level and enter a name (e.g., "Commercial Account").
  3. For each relevant item, assign a special price under that price level.
    • Example: Instead of $1.50 per pound, set it to $1.00 per pound.
  4. Click Save.

Assigning a Price Level to a Customer

  1. Go to the Register and search for the customer.
  2. Click Edit Profile.
  3. In the bottom right corner, select the appropriate Price Level (e.g., "Commercial Account").
  4. Click Save.

Now, when the customer places an order, their special pricing will automatically apply.

Example:

  • A standard customer pays $1.50 per pound.
  • A customer assigned to the Commercial Account price level will automatically be charged $1.00 per pound when adding laundry weight to an order.
