Applying Discounts in Wash-Dry-Fold POS
This guide covers the various ways to apply discounts to a customer's order. We'll start with the most basic methods and progress to more advanced options.
1. Applying a Percentage Discount
- Begin a transaction and search for the customer.
- Add the laundry weight or items to the order.
- Click the "Apply Percent Discount" button.
- Enter the discount percentage (e.g., 10% off).
- The system will automatically calculate and apply the discount.
2. Adjusting the Price per Pound
- Add the laundry weight to the order.
- Select the item and adjust the price per pound manually.
- Example: Instead of $1.50 per pound, enter $1.00 per pound.
- The system will update the total based on the new rate.
3. Using Coupon Buttons for Discounts
Coupon buttons can be set up to provide flat dollar amounts or percentage-based discounts. This is useful if:
- You want to run promotions or discounts on specific services.
- You are using the "Attendant (Limited Access)" role where price changes and manual discounts are restricted.
Creating a Flat Amount Discount Coupon
- Click the Menu button and go to Inventory.
- Click New Coupon and name it (e.g., "$10 Off Coupon").
- Assign it to a Department (e.g., Laundry).
- Set the Coupon Type to Flat Amount and enter -10 (negative values represent discounts).
- Select which items the coupon applies to.
- Click Save.
Creating a Percentage Discount Coupon
- Click New Coupon and name it (e.g., "10% Off Coupon").
- Assign it to a Department.
- Set the Coupon Type to Percentage and enter -10.
- Select the items the coupon should apply to.
- Click Save.
Note:
- If a positive percentage is entered, it acts as a fee/surcharge instead of a discount.
- Item selection prevents unintended discounts on retail items while applying them only to laundry services.
Applying Coupons at Checkout
- Start a new sale and add items to the order.
- Apply the discount by selecting the appropriate coupon button:
- "$10 Off" will deduct $10 from the total.
- "10% Off" will apply a 10% discount to the total.
4. Using Price Levels for Automatic Discounts
Price Levels allow special pricing for certain customers, such as:
- Commercial Accounts
- Military Discounts
- Student Discounts
Setting Up a Price Level
- Go to Inventory and select Price Levels.
- Click New Price Level and enter a name (e.g., "Commercial Account").
- For each relevant item, assign a special price under that price level.
- Example: Instead of $1.50 per pound, set it to $1.00 per pound.
- Click Save.
Assigning a Price Level to a Customer
- Go to the Register and search for the customer.
- Click Edit Profile.
- In the bottom right corner, select the appropriate Price Level (e.g., "Commercial Account").
- Click Save.
Now, when the customer places an order, their special pricing will automatically apply.
Example:
- A standard customer pays $1.50 per pound.
- A customer assigned to the Commercial Account price level will automatically be charged $1.00 per pound when adding laundry weight to an order.
